Wells Fargo Banks on Valencia Systems' Network Management Technology

Commitment Is Increased Because Of Aruba's Proven Scalability

Orlando, FL, July 31, 2000. — After using the Aruba network infrastructure performance management solution from Valencia Systems Inc. (www.valenciasystems.com) for the past 18-months, Wells Fargo Bank (NYSE: WFC) has chosen to significantly increase their commitment to the company's scalable technology.

Aruba proactively manages network growth through careful monitoring of traffic history and trends. This unique product evaluates how a company's network is running now, understands how it has performed in the past, and predicts future performance problems. Aruba is the only product with the proven ability to easily scale to today's growing network demands.

Wells Fargo was one of the first major installations of Aruba. Initially installed to manage over 60,000 network elements, Aruba today manages over 96,000 interfaces which will grow to 200,000 with this new commitment. Because of its easy to understand Web interface, Aruba is used by network engineers and operators as well as business managers within the organization.

"We have been using Aruba to measure two things, bandwidth utilization and latency", says Maggie Callison, Vice President/Manager of Performance Network Management Engineering, Wells Fargo. "It quickly shows us where and by how much our network is changing. And the product scales. That is the most important thing to us."

"Wells Fargo has a very proactive approach to managing their network," said Steve Christle, President and Co-Founder of Valencia Systems. "Aruba provides the information that Wells Fargo needs to stay ahead of a very dynamic environment, yet still provide world-class network services."

Aruba manages any installed network equipment that supports SNMP and standard interface MIBs, and collects performance data on network components such as LAN, WAN, ATM, and Frame Relay (port and PVC) interfaces. It's 100% Java and is available on Windows NT, HPUX, AIX and Solaris. Reports are made available using any standard Web browser and through a flexible query tool included with the distributed system console application. The modular architecture of Aruba allows it to scale to cost-effectively monitor from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of network interfaces.
