Introducing ArubaTM — The First Infrastructure Network Management Solution That Easily Scales To Over A Quarter Million Network Interfaces
This Industrial Strength Solution Provides Strategic Network Vision And Is Capable Of Collecting Gigabytes Of Performance Data Daily
Las Vegas, NV, Networld+Interop, Booth #8138 May 8, 2000. — Valencia Systems Inc. based in Orlando, Florida, introduced today Aruba, an infrastructure network performance management solution for proactively managing network growth through anticipation of capacity issues. Providing a comprehensive historical view of network performance, Aruba was designed from the ground up to be scalable and portable, and easy to understand and operate. Its inherent low maintenance and scalability makes its usability unmatched in the industry.
Since it is ideally suited for large-scale network deployment and growth, corporate management, network operations, network engineering and IT management can all use the tools provided by Aruba to see the performance of the network. Aruba's hierarchical architecture allows the network to be securely partitioned, with an unlimited number of groups, so each user easily views the information from the perspective they need, in spite of the complexity of the database.
"The market told us that there was not a product that provided a real view into the entire network," stated Steven Christle, President and Co-Founder of Valencia Systems. "Nor was there a product that tracked network trends and looked at how the network performed that could easily scale at the same rate as networks are growing, especially with acquisitions and e-commerce. So we built one that does."
Aruba leverages all existing network intelligence through SNMP agent polling on network components including WAN, LAN, Frame Relay (PVCs) and devices such as routers and switches. It is an all Java implementation, which is available on Windows NT or HP-UX, AIX, and Solaris UNIX operating environments. Users have easy access to reports through a standard web browser or an Aruba console, which can also be distributed, for multiple console users.
"Our product was designed for large scale data collection and reporting," continued Christle. "It has a fully distributed GUI, fully distributed polling and data storage, and on demand report generation."
Aruba provides automatic baseline comparison, exceptions (performance against goals), device and component inventory, and extensive raw and aggregated traffic statistics. In addition, it provides service level metrics including availability, latency, utilization, congestion and errors. Reports that span the entire network or any piece of it can quickly and easily be generated by a diverse group of users. Training and maintenance costs can be half that of other systems.
This information can be proactively used to improve capacity planning, allocate user resources most effectively, avoid mis-provisioning of carrier capacity, and detect and avoid bottlenecks and outages. Overall, Aruba lowers your total cost of ownership and optimizes your network investment.
Aruba comes with standard reports and the ability to customize reports easily. It is based on Oracle database technology and capitalizes on server-side Java. In addition, Valencia has developed a certified Cisco Management Connection for Aruba and is a solutions partner for HP OpenView. Aruba is available today at a starting price of $10,000 for a Windows NT based system.
